U.S. House Expresses Support For Estonia

June 6, 2007 -- The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a resolution expressing U.S. solidarity with Estonia amid tensions between Estonia and Russia over Estonia's removal of a monument commemorating World War II Red Army soldiers.

The resolution, approved by a vote of 412-0 on June 5, does not directly condemn Russia.

It does, however, condemn violence and disturbances that occurred in Tallinn and Moscow during the row over the statue's removal in April.

The resolution is not binding on U.S. foreign policy.
