Washington, 30 October 1997 (RFE/RL) -- An American television news network says it is considering a proposal to send a news reporter into space to the orbiting Russian Mir station.
A spokesman for the Cable News Network (CNN), David Talley, told our correspondent that Russian authorities approached CNN with the idea earlier this year. CNN responded positively, he said.
Talley said CNN is very interested but he noted that discussions with the Russians are still in a very preliminary stage.
