Almaty, 10 November 1997 (RFE/RL) - Officials in Almaty tell our correspondent that preparations continue for the visit of U.S. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Tomorrow, Clinton attends the opening of a women's health-care center, whose emphasis is pre-natal care.
Clinton then meets President Nursultan Nazarbayev. She then attends a roundtable discussion that includes Kazakh youth leaders. Discussions will focus on human rights and civic issues.
Clinton Wednesday addresses the Central Asia Conference on Women in Politics.
A presidential press official tells our correspondent that the visit of Clinton is viewed as especially important, as Nazarbayev prepares to visit Washington this month.
