Warsaw, 14 November 1997 (RFE/RL) - Poland's Solidarity Election Action (AWS), the senior partner in the coalition government, has filed an application with the Warsaw Court to register a new party.
The founding committee of the party, the Social Movement of the Solidarity Election Action (RS-AWS), includes Solidarity's top leader Marian Krzaklewski, Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek and Sejm (lower house) speaker Maciej Pluzynski.
A registration motion filed yesterday with the court was signed by 10,000 people.
