Russia: Moscow Bombing Toll Rises

Moscow, 14 Aug 2000 (RFE/RL) - Russian reports say a woman died of her injuries last night, bringing to 12 the number of people killed in last week's bombing in central Moscow. At least 50 people who were injured in the bombing remain in hospital. Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday urged investigators to make more intensive searches to find out who was responsible for the blast last Tuesday in an underground commercial passageway.

Investigators have said they are considering three possible scenarios: That the bombing was carried out by Chechen separatist rebels; that it was the result of a commercial dispute; or was carried out by someone trying to commit a contract murder.
