Yugoslavia: UN Expects Bosnian-Yugoslav Normalization Soon

Belgrade, 6 November 2000 (RFE/RL) - UN officials say they expect Yugoslavia to establish diplomatic relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina shortly. UN chief representative in Bosnia, Jacques Klein, said after his meeting with Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica today that a decision to set up diplomatic relations between the two countries will be taken "in a matter of days." Klein also said that Kostunica had told him that he considers normalizing relations between Yugoslavia and Bosnia as a necessity. Kostunica also told Klein that Belgrade will pursue what he called "specific relations" with the Republika Srpska, Bosnia's ethnic-Serb entity.
