Russia: Suicide Bombing Kills 15 On Russian Military Bus

Moscow, 5 June 2003 (RFE/RL) -- Russian officials say a female suicide bomber set off an explosion beside a bus carrying air force personnel near Chechnya, killing 15 people. An official with the regional Emergency Situations office, Boris Dzgoyev, said the bus was traveling from the city of Mozdok in the North Ossetia region to a military air base nearby when it was blown up today.

Mozdok is the headquarters for Russian forces fighting rebels in Chechnya.

News agencies quote officials with the Defense and Interior ministries as saying the woman was wearing the type of white coat used by medical personnel when she approached the bus at a railroad crossing and detonated the explosives.
