Moscow, 1 October 2003 (RFE/RL) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin (pictured) and Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka held talks in Moscow last night to discuss relations. The meeting came ahead of a session today in Moscow of the Council of Ministers of the Russia-Belarus Union. The meeting is expected to focus on the plan for a Russia-Belarus common currency.
Kremlin spokesman Aleksei Gromov said Putin and Lukashenka had discussed "various aspects of bilateral ties," but did not give details.
