Russia: Communist Party Leader Says Elections A 'Shameful Farce'

Moscow, 7 December 2003 (RFE/RL) -- Russian Communist Party chief Gennadii Zyuganov has denounced today's parliamentary elections as a "shameful farce" riddled with cheating. Zyuganov was speaking at a Moscow news conference after exit polls and early official results indicate the Unified Russia party -- which supports President Vladimir Putin -- is far in front.
