Iraq: Two Attacks In Iraq Kill At Least 10 People

Baghdad, 15 December 2003 (RFE/RL) -- A suicide bombing and a bomb explosion at two separate police stations in and near Baghdad killed today at least 10 people and injured several others. Another attack was foiled in Baghdad, when police fired at a speeding car. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The attacks came two days after U.S. troops captured deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein near his hometown Tikrit.

Hussein is currently facing interrogation by the United States at an undisclosed location.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on U.S. television that Hussein has so far "not been cooperative" in providing information to the U.S. military.

Rumsfeld said the United States plans to treat Hussein as a prisoner of war in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
