Police in the western Belarusian city of Hrodna detained four human rights activists for publicly promoting international Human Rights Day today.

Viktar Sazonau, Uladzimir Khilmanovich, Aleh Kalinkou, and Yan Roman were distributing flyers with information about the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights when police detained them, RFE/RL's Belarus Service reports.

The four activists also put informative posters about the human rights declaration on walls in the city center.
