Prominent Uzbek Political Scientist Flees Country After Harassment

A prominent Uzbek political scientist has fled the country after what he says was harassment by security services. Toshpulat Yuldashev, who contributed to programs broadcast by RFE/RL's Uzbek Service, said he had always been watched by the authorities in Uzbekistan, but decided to flee the country for his own safety after the Uzbek government stepped up its attacks against RFE/RL. He is now in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Yuldashev tells RFE/RL's Uzbek Service that there is no one left in Uzbekistan who can express his or her point of view without being considered an extremist by the government.
