Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian says Moscow and Yerevan have "reached an understanding" about the price of Russian natural gas for Armenia.

Speaking after talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 8, the Armenian president said the price must be based on "a real market price" for gas that takes into consideration Armenia's demand for gas at comparable prices in the Caucasus region.

Sarkisian's meeting with Putin was their first since Putin won back the presidency in Russia's March 2012 election.
