Three attacks in Baghdad have killed at least 17 people.

Police said six people were killed when assailants threw grenades at Sunni Muslim worshippers as they left a mosque on the evening of May 6.

Earlier in the day, two car bombs exploded near police checkpoints at the entrance to the Shi'ite district of Hussainiya in the north of the city, killing one policeman and seven civilians.

Three civilians were killed in a third bombing near a restaurant frequented by police.

At least 33 people were wounded in all three attacks.

No group has yet to claim responsibility for the blasts.

Last week, the UN Iraq mission said April was the bloodiest month in Iraq since 2008, with 712 people killed in bombings and other violence.
