Baku Residents Protest Over Fuel, Food Costs

Hundreds of Baku residents have staged a protest rally over the rising costs of fuel and food products.

Protesters chanted antigovernment slogans and called on the country's President Ilham Aliyev to resign, accusing him of corruption and falsifying the results of the October 9 presidential election.

The sanctioned rally was organized by the National Council of Democratic Forces, led by former presidential candidate Camil Hasanli.

He urged the protesters to continue "to fight the dictatorship in Azerbaijan until democracy prevails" in the country.
