MONDAY, August 29:

Bosnia-Herzegovina/Turkey: Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visits Sarajevo and other Bosnian cities (to August 30).

Russia: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is scheduled to meet State Duma leaders in Sochi.

Serbia/Czech Republic: Serbian President Boris Tadic meets with his Czech counterpart Vaclav Klaus in the Czech president's summer residence, the Lany Chateau.

Ukraine/Finland: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko visits Helsinki.

UN: International Day Against Nuclear Tests.


TUESDAY, August 30:

Kosovo: UN Security Council is scheduled to hold debates on Kosovo in New York.

Muslim World: First day of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

World: International Day of the Disappeared.


WEDNESDAY, August 31:

Iran: Iran plans to start the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

Kyrgyzstan: Independence Day.

Serbia/Azerbaijan: Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic pays a working visit to Baku.

Ukraine/Poland: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to meet with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in Jurata, northern Poland.


THURSDAY, September 1:

Moldova: UN special rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief Heiner Bielefeldt makes his first visit to Moldova (to September 8).

Uzbekistan: Independence Day.


FRIDAY, September 2:

EU: Informal meeting of EU foreign ministers opens in Sopot, Poland (to September 3).

Kosovo/Serbia: EU-mediated talks between Serbia and Kosovo are scheduled to resume in Brussels.

Russia/Tajikistan: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visits Dushanbe (to September 3).

Serbia/Turkey: Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visits Belgrade.

Tajikistan: Dushanbe hosts a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States’ Council of Heads of State. Presidents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Russia to attend.


SUNDAY, September 4:

Iran/Tajikistan: Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to visit Dushanbe (to September 5).
