The sudden eruption of popular demands for political reform in North Africa and the Middle East has already toppled two autocrats and squeezed concessions -- real or perceived -- from many Arab governments. But can the unrest there provide genuine impetus for democratic change outside the region, in countries like Belarus, China, or Iran?
