Ministry spokeswoman Liliya Kalykova told RFE/RL the wedding party is part of a special program called "The Family is the Nucleus of Society."

She said 20 couples who wanted to marry but said they could not afford a wedding reception were selected to participate.

The event will take place at Bishkek's Dasmiya restaurant.

Kalykova said if the initiative was successful it would be held every year.
