Pakistani Army Says Afghan Militants Attacked Border Post

Pakistan's Army says two of its soldiers sustained light injuries when Afghan militants attacked a border post.

The army released a statment saying four "terrorists" were killed in a gunbattle on April 4 with Pakistani soldiers at the Bhittai border post.

The incident took place in Kurram, one of the seven tribal agencies along the porous border with Afghanistan.

The reported attack is the latest in a series of cross-border incidents that have escalated tensions between the two neighbors.

Kabul and Islamabad blame each other for violence by militants on their shared border.

Last week, Kabul canceled a visit of Afghan Army officers to the Pakistani city of Quetta for what it termed "unacceptable Pakistani artillery shelling" into eastern Afghanistan.

Islamabad denied the allegations, saying Kabul had "overreacted."
