At Least Eight Killed In Northwest Pakistan Bomb Attacks

A least eight people have been killed in separate bomb attacks in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Officials said at least six people were killed and 11 more injured on July 8 when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden motorbike into the car of a pro-government tribal elder.

The attack in the Doaba area of the southern Hangu district missed the intended target, Malik Habibullah, but killed his brother and a guard, among others.

In the second incident, two police officers were killed while defusing a bomb in the district of Swabi close to the provincial capital, Peshawar.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

But suspicion is likely to fall on the Taliban, which has targeted civilians and security personnel in an insurgency that has killed thousands of people.
