Pakistani Air Force Pilot Killed In Crash

A pilot of the Pakistani armed forces was killed as his fighter jet crashed in the Khyber Agency tribal region on September 24.

Muhammad Waseem, the public relations officer of the Pakistani Air Force, told Radio Mashaal that the aircraft was on a routine training mission when it crashed in the Jamrud area of Khyber tribal district in the country’s northwest.

“Flight Lieutenant Omar Shahzad succumbed to injuries after the aircraft crashed,” said Waseem. He said no loss of civilian life or property has been reported.

The official said the aircraft crashed due to a technical fault. An investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
