Novak Named As Chief Of Russian Commission With Iran

Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev has appointed Aleksandr Novak to be the Russian chairman of the joint Russian-Iranian commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The announcement was posted on the Russian government's website on September 27, although the actual change was made on September 24.

Novak, who was named Russia's Energy Minister in May, replaces Sergei Shmatko as Russian chairman of the commission with Iran.

Shmatko was also Novak's predecessor as energy minister.
