Russia Blasts Slovakia To Win World Ice Hockey Gold


A dominant Russian team has blasted Slovakia 6-2 to claim the world ice hockey championship in Helsinki.

Aleksandr Syomin scored twice as the Russians won their 10th straight game to finish undefeated at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) championship.

The victory marks the first world gold for the Russian team since 2009 and the team's fourth overall world championship.

In the bronze medal game, the Czech Republic downed Finland 3-2 to claim the bronze.
