The U.S.-led coalition targeting Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq has dropped leaflets over the militant group's de facto capital of Raqqa promising liberation to the people living there.
An anti-Islamic State group called Raqqa Is Being Silently Slaughtered and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the leaflets dropped on July 19 had drawings showing dead IS fighters and their flag turned upside down.
Members of the main Kurdish militia, the People's Protection Units (YPG), are also shown walking down a street with Arabic words saying "Freedom Will Come."
YPG fighters have been advancing toward Syria's Raqqa and are as close as 50 kilometers north of the city.
Coalition warplanes -- which make daily air strikes on IS fighters and their positions -- have previously dropped such leaflets in regions held by the militant group.
IS fighters control large swaths of Syria and neighboring Iraq.
