G8 Agrees To New Climate Change Targets

The world's most powerful leaders have ended their first day in Italy at the G8 summit meeting with an agreement to support new emissions targets for confronting global warming. The move, which was opposed by the Bush White House, is a significant step in the battle to halt climate change and has never been agreed by the G8 before. At a working dinner tonight, leaders were expected to turn their attention to matters of international security, including Iran and North Korea. More
