Femen Sends 'SOS Signal' To Davos

Femen activists have moved their protests beyond Ukraine.
Femen activists have moved their protests beyond Ukraine.
Topless activists of the Ukrainian feminist movement Femen set off red smoke flares outside the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this week, according to a video and statement issued by the group on January 26.

The groups said the demonstration was carried out to "send an SOS signal to the plotters in Davos."

Calling themselves "sextremists," the group called on world leaders to stop "imitating concern about the fates of women" and to take real measures to advance the redistribution of political and economic power and to address capital and income inequalities between men and women.
