Uzbek Serial Killers Jailed For Life

A court in Uzbekistan has sentenced two men to life in prison for raping and murdering 11 women.

On February 26, Uzbek prosecutor Azizbek Nazarov confirmed earlier reports saying that Uzbek citizens Abduseit Ormanov and Polat Pardaliev had been found guilty and subsequently sentenced for robbing, raping, and then killing seven women in Uzbekistan and four women in neighboring Kazakhstan between 2011 and 2012.

The serial killings shocked Uzbekistan at the time, but no official information about the crimes was made public until this week.

Online news portals in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia have cited Nazarov since February 24 as giving details of the killings.

Nazarov did not specify when exactly the men were sentenced but mentioned that Pardaliev had been apprehended and sentenced in Kazakhstan first and later extradited to Uzbekistan.
