CHITA, Russia – A regional court in the Siberian city of Chita has ordered the closure of a local newspaper, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

"Russkoye Zabaikalye" carried several articles that were thought to propagate extremism.

The articles were contained offensive words insulting local indigenous non-Russian ethnic groups, and called on the local population to push the minorities out of the region.

The newspaper has been operating since August 2006.
