Journalist Osman Hallyev continues to receive death threats as pressure on him and his family members continues because of his work for RFE/RL's Turkmen Service.

Hallyev says one threat he recently received was someone saying they wished he would "go out for a walk on foot. They say they are waiting for me to leave home without my car."

Additionally, Hallyev's son, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law -- who were all sacked from their jobs two weeks ago -- have not been rehired.

Hallyev adds that his daughter and her children are now living with Hallyev. That makes 12 people, he says, and there is little money for food.

Hallyev says he has complained to a local prosecutor about the treatment he and his family have received, but was told that everything that has occurred is within the law, implying that an order had been sent from higher authorities.
