YAKUTSK, Russia -- At least 170 people, mostly children, were hospitalized today after drinking tainted milk in the eastern Russian republic of Sakha, formely known as Yakutia, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
Russia's chief health inspector, Gennady Onishchenko, told journalists that all the hospitalized patients had used milk products from a dairy in Yakutsk, the capital of Sakha.
An investigation was launched into the incident. All dairy products have been withdrawn from the region's schools and hospitals.
