TEXT SIZE - +
A European Union police spokeswoman in Kosovo says a man has been arrested on suspicion of committing war crimes during the 1998-99 Kosovo war.

Kristina Herodes said today the crimes allegedly took place between April and June 1999. She gave no other details.

Local media identified the man as Sabit Geci, a member of the ethnic Albanian rebel Kosovo Liberation Army.

A UN court found Geci guilty of extortion in 2001 and sentenced him to more than five years in prison.

The arrest comes days after EU police raided the offices of Kosovo's transport minister, Fatmir Limaj, who is being investigated for possibly embezzling public funds.
