QURGHON-TEPPA, Tajikistan -- People in a Tajik village damaged by floods last month say the government has done nothing to help them, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

People in the village of Tojiksoy in the southern Khatlon Province complain that the government is not doing anything to repair their houses that were damaged by floods and a landslide in May.

Some 500 houses were flooded and 25 completely ruined in the village by bad weather.

Homeless villagers have been living in tents since then.

The head of the local community, Mahmadrasul Yormatov, told RFE/RL that although the Committee for Emergency Situations instructed all the drug stores in the country to provide the affected regions with medicine, it has not yet arrived.
