Rasim Delic, who commanded Bosnia's army during the 1992-95 Balkan war, has died of cancer at his home near Sarajevo. He was 61.
In September 2008, Delic was sentenced to three years in prison by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, which found him guilty of cruel treatment of Serb detainees but acquitted him of murder.
Delic, who pleaded not guilty, had been awaiting a court ruling on his appeal when he died.
He was one of the most senior figures in the Bosnian military to be prosecuted over crimes during the war.
