Igor Chudinov has been released from custody in Kyrgyzstan, after guaranteeing he will not try to leave the country.

Chudinov, who was prime minister from 2007 to 2009 under former President Kurmanbek Bakiev, voluntarily turned himself in earlier this week when he discovered there was a warrant for his arrest.

The charges against him are unclear but reports say accusations against Chudinov stem from his time as head of Kyrgyzstan's development fund from 2009 to 2010.

Chudinov will remain under house arrest.
