Former Russian Mayor Sentenced For Bribery

RYBINSK, Russia -- The former mayor of the Russian city of Rybinsk was sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for accepting bribes, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Yevgeny Sdvizhkov was found guilty of accepting 1 million rubles ($32,000) as a bribe for allowing the operation of a commercial center in the city.

He was arrested and removed from his post two years ago.
