Georgia Accuses Abkhazia Of Shelling Its Territory

TBILISI -- Georgia has accused Abkhazia of shooting into its territory, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

According to Georgia's Interior Ministry, two police officers in Georgia's Zugdidi district, which borders breakaway Abkhazia, were wounded in the result of shooting from Abkhaz territory on August 28.

Sources in the ministry say that the fire lasted for 10 minutes and involved machine-gun and RPG fire.

Abkhaz authorities have not commented on the incident yet.
