TEXT SIZE - +
TBILISI -- A Tbilisi court has ruled that an opposition activist should be held in pretrial detention for up to two months, RFE/RL's Georgian Service reports.

Gochi Tskilauri, an activist in the opposition Democratic Movement for a United Georgia party, has been charged with illegally purchasing, keeping, and carrying a gun.

Party representatives say the gun was planted by police.

The Democratic Movement for a United Georgia is led by one of Georgia's leading opposition leaders, former parliament speaker Nino Burjanadze.
