High-Ranking Police Official Attacked In Ingushetia

NAZRAN -- Unknown assailants have seriously injured the chief of Ingushetia's Forensics and Investigations Center, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

The attackers opened fire on Colonel Magomed Gadarboshev's car in the center of Nazran, Ingushetia's largest city.

A spokesman for the Investigation Department told journalists that Gadarboshev has been hospitalized in serious condition. Investigations are under way.

There have been several violent attacks against officials and police in Russia's Republic of Ingushetia in recent weeks, including a car bomb that severely injured the republic's president on June 21.
