MOSCOW -- Interpol has issued an arrest warrant for seven Russian citizens of Chechen origin, including Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) officials say the wanted Chechens are suspects in the slaying of Sulim Yamadayev, the former commander of Russia's elite Vostok (The East) military unit.

Delimkhanov says he has nothing to do with the murder and has no intention of proving his innocence to UAE police.

It is not clear if Russian officials will arrest the Chechens wanted by Interpol.

Delimkhanov, who is also a cousin of Moscow-backed Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, enjoys immunity as a Duma deputy.

Moscow lawyer Vladimir Volkov told RFE/RL that since Russia is an Interpol member it is obliged to comply with the organization's rules and strip Delimkhanov of his immunity.

Yamadayev was shot to death in Dubai on March 28.

His brother, former Duma deputy Ruslan Yamadayev, was killed in Moscow on September 24.
