Here are some of Iran's official reactions to the plans by the pastor of a small Christian church in Florida to mark the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States by burning copies of the Koran.

Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani said that U.S. President Barack Obama will be held responsible if the Dove World Outreach Center's planned "Burn A Koran Day" goes ahead.

In a written statement, Golpaygani, who is a marja, or a Shi'ite source of emulation, warned against the consequences of burning the holy book of the Muslims:

I along with 1.5 billion Muslims and true civilized people of the world condemn this spirit of savagery and denounce its great dangers for the humanity and ignition of the fire of great seditions, I warn the Pope and other Christian leaders that if such a gruesome and inhumane incident takes place in the U.S., we will hold the U.S. establishment and President Obama himself responsible and deserving to be put on trial. The pastor should be arrested immediately and his church should be shut down forever.

The cultural deputy of Iran's Armed Forces, Masud Jazayeri, said that the U.S. government is behind the Koran burning, which he called an attempt by the U.S. to cover up its role in the September 2001 terrorist attacks.

Jazayeri said that "undeniable evidence" proves that the September 11 attacks were the work of "U.S. politicians and Zionist elements" and that as time goes by, the role of "U.S. state terrorism" becomes clearer, forcing the U.S. government to try to create marginal issues and distract public opinion to cover up "its crimes."

He said the planned Koran burning is a move in that direction, adding that humiliating Muslims is another goal of the Koran burning.

Iran's state-controlled television suggested that U.S. officials have condemned the planned burning of the Koran "not out of respect for Islam and the holy book of the Muslims but because they want to prevent U.S. soldiers in the region from becoming targets of increased attacks."

And here is the reaction of blogger "Majma Divanegan" (Assembly of the Madmen or Lunatics) who writes that while Tehran seems to be outraged by the plans to burn the Koran, the rights of religious minorities, namely the Baha'is, are being violated in the Islamic Republic on a daily basis:

Every year, every day, every moment, Baha'is in Iran are being harassed. The pressure on the Baha'is goes beyond burning books. No one here is surprised by the burning of the holy books of the Baha'is. Here it is a question of their life and death. The issue is the destruction of their cemeteries -- it has been taking place for the past 30 years without any [justice]. It seems that both in Iran and in the United States, there is only one religion that should not be insulted, its book should not be burned, one should not draw the cartoon of its prophet and one is not even allowed to make a small joke about it otherwise the world will face deadly consequences.

its ok for the muslims to burn our flag and kill our people but they cannot tolerate a crazy pastor burning their koran? Give me a break- how about a deal- they drop the mosque from ground zero and we get the pastor to stop the burning- Oh, that wont work because they have already told us if they have to move the mosque that will also cause violence. Seems to me the radical muslims will try to kill us anyhow- so I say BURN BABY BURN- lets expose their intolerance and start to expose their real agenda before they kill us.

How is it that any religion be allowed to hold a country and its people hostage. The united states has freedom of speech; therefore everyone has a right to use this and we often disagree. Muslim leaders in Arabia now want us to end that when they themselves offer little freedom to their own people and persecute and condemn anyone non Muslim in their own country and call for the president of the u.s. to act as a dictator and arrest or prevent a u.s. Citizen from exercising a right?!?! Has the world gone completely mad. No religion has the right to restrict country's citizen of their freedoms in place and hold everyone hostage with threats and use a mundane incident of 50 people burning korans as a justified right to commit violence (they are smarter than that and like the convienance of an excuse to further extremist causes).

Your a joke, I will burn a copy of that damn book myself just to mark the day! The thought of building a muslim center on the ground zero site makes me sick. Every time something doesn't go your way it's a HOLY WAR... what a joke of a religion. We don't like it .. start a holy war... terrorist blows up something ... hey it's not our fault they distorted the koran's teachings and are leftist.. pffft... give me a break... you hide behind that damn book like it's a get out of trouble card. I can say that I will burn a copy of that book every 9/11 just to remind me of the terrorists it shelters.

Iranians were among the first who started with burning koran. Since 2005 they have actively campaigned for Burning Koran. www.fireonquran.com
One of them is arrested in 2009 and is in hellhole, if it is not killed by those turban mullahs.

Golnaz why don`t you write about this group and let us know why they have campaigned for Burn Koran at the first place? do you feel ashamed that Iranian groups started this?!

If muslims react violently to the koran burning, they are simply proving the Florida Pastor to be right!!!

A woman is about to be STONED to death in Iran for accused adultry, where is the media outrage to save her life from their barbaric islamic laws?

Despite over 70% of Americans opposing the imam rauf he stated muslims around the world would react violently if the ground zero islamic center was moved, and they are upset a Pastor in Floirda is burning the koran???

You want America to be tolerant, which we are as there are MANY mosques in EVERY state, WHY NOT BUILD AN INTERFAITH CENTER IN SAUDI ARABIA and STOP BEHEADING CHRISTIAN CONVERTS THERE???

SO MANY in the media are TERRIFIED to speak out against islam…

The fact of the matter is, if SO MANY are TERRIFIED of the koran, that is PROOF POSITIVE that people should burn it…

Beheadings, Stonings, Suicide Bombers, muslims and the mainstream media have a lot of work to do before saying that the koran burning event in Florida is evil, that is certainly the pot calling the kettle black and Americans ARE SICK OF IT!!!

I think muslim anger stems from the very fact that we are in the middle-east dropping bombs and killing civilians (known as collateral damage).

As a Christian minority in Iran, I grew up among millions of Shia Moslems. I never witnessed the Iranians verbally demeaning Christianity, Judaism, or Zoroastrianism. I never saw them showing an interest in burning the Bible or the Avest. This man’s excuse for burning the Koran represents an unbelievable level of human self righteousness and arrogance. He can not tell the difference between stupidity and free speech, an evil stupidity at that!

Right on brother Hamik! There is more respect for Isawiyya and the Bible in the Ummah than there is in a terminally decadent and neo-pagan Europe, for instance.

Muslims Burn Bibles, people . Dogs. Houses. cars. .. etc. One day they will come for all infidels and burn them it is their law make no mistake. You must be Blind not to see what is coming. They will lie to get a chance to us a nations peace as a front door to it leagal system and then watch out.

It IS AN EVIL Murder and Hate Filled Cult, of which the spirit is sent upon them because they loved the Lie.John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, (the truth of mercy and Love) for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.2 Chronicles 18:21Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' And the LORD said to the spirit, , 'How?'"He said, 'I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Then He said, 'You are to entice him and prevail also. Go and do so.'They loved the lie so they recieved the lie:]New Living Translation (©2007)For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.Becuase most people dont read their Bible they have no idea....whats goiing on right in front of them.

muslims are the "Anti christs" army. and they would like to kill all of the liberal americans who like to live in Sin, and freedom to sin.If you thuink the Christains are hard to deal with just wait... you'll miss us.Jesus Says He would have Mercy and Not judgment.. Muslims Say Judgement and Not Mercy.
