KYIV -- Kyiv officials say they are planning to install video cameras inside the city’s subway cars, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.
Kyiv Metro Director Petro Miroshnykov told journalists today that he will ask city authorities to allocate money for the purchase of video cameras and their installation.
Miroshnykov said all of Kyiv's subway stations are already equipped with video-surveillance systems.
He added that instructions will be drafted for subway workers and train conductors on how to act in emergency situations such as the bomb attacks in the Moscow subway on March 29 that killed 39 people and injured more than 70.
Miroshnykov added that the booths and shops located in subway stations will be thoroughly inspected and unspecified changes "might be introduced."
