Kyrgyz Airport Director Hospitalized After Beating

BISHKEK -- The director of Bishkek's Manas airport has been hospitalized after being attacked by unknown assailants, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

Bakyt Sadykov said the attackers stopped his car in Bishkek and drove him and a companion outside the city.

He said there they beat him and dumped them in a village in the Chuy region, taking his money and his car.

Sadykov was hospitalized with head injuries.

Police checkpoints have been set up in Bishkek and the Chuy region in an attempt to find those responsible for the attack.
