Kyrgyz Opposition Activists Detained

BISHKEK -- A Kyrgyz opposition party says three of its activists were detained in the main city market in Bishkek today, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

A spokesperson for the Ak Shumkar (White Falcon) party told RFE/RL that the three were distributing flyers with information about a public gathering in Bishkek the party has scheduled for March 23.

The spokesperson said police approached the three, confiscated the flyers, and took the activists to a police station.
