Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan Discuss Joint Border Patrols

OSH, Kyrgyzstan -- Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are seeking to arrange joint patrols of some parts of their common border beginning in 2010, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

The heads of the Kyrgyz and Uzbek border guard services met on November 22 in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh for preliminary discussions about holding joint patrols.

In September, similar joint patrols were arranged between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for selected parts of their border as well.
