CHISINAU -- Moldovan authorities say they have identified the man responsible for a grenade attack that injured 40 people at an open-air concert in downtown Chisinau on October 14, RFE/RL's Moldovan Service reports.

Moldovan Prosecutor-General Valeriu Zubco said at a press conference that the suspect is a young man, but refused to give any further details. He said they have begun a search for the man.

Zubco said there is a connection between the blast and two threatening phone calls received by the office of Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat on the day of the attack.

He said all of the incidents were meant to "intimidate the population."
