OIC Discusses Holding Meeting In Dushanbe

DUSHANBE -- Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi recently met with Saudi officials in Riyadh to discuss holding the 37th meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Dushanbe next year, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

According to Tajik Foreign Ministry spokesman Davlat Nazri, OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, who discussed the issue with Zarifi on May 20, supported the idea.

Among other issues, Zarifi also discussed opportunities for Tajik labor migrants in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, a Saudi-Tajik business forum opened in Dushanbe on May 22.

Zarifi has been on a tour of the Persian Gulf states since May 18, visiting the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
