Operations Suspended At Six Mines In Ukraine

TEXT SIZE - +
DONETSK -- Ukraine’s State Labor Safety Control halted operations in six mines today due to safety concerns, RFE/RL’s Ukrainian Service reports.

A mine explosion left eight miners in critical condition on January 4.

Authorities told journalists that the suspensions were related to poor gas and fire safety conditions, as well as miners’ ignorance of safety precautions.
