Pakistan Bombs Taliban Positions

TEXT SIZE - +
Pakistani fighter jets today killed at least 16 suspected Taliban insurgents and bombed a series of Taliban outposts in an offensive near the Afghan border.

Local government official for the lower Orakzai tribal region, Rasheed Khan, said one of the houses bombed was that of local Taliban commander Aslam Farooqi.

It was not immediately clear if Farooqi had been killed in the attack. The air strikes came after a wave of suicide bombings killed soldiers, policemen, and aid workers throughout northwest and eastern Pakistan last week.
