Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari says his government is determined to win the fight against Islamic militants.

In an opinion article in today's "Wall Street Journal," Zardari says the Pakistani army has reclaimed the Swat and Malakand regions from militants, adding "we will win this war against them."

Zardari's article coincides with the two-year anniversary of the assassination of his wife, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He said she had died confronting the forces of tyranny and terrorism, and Pakistan remains "committed to the struggle that she led."

Pakistan has been hit by numerous bombings and attacks in recent months as Islamist militants retaliate against a government offensive against the Taliban in the northwest of the country.

Hundreds of people have been killed in the attacks.
