Rocket Attack Kills Three In Kabul

TEXT SIZE - +
KABUL (Reuters) -- A rocket hit a residential area in the Afghan capital, Kabul, overnight, killing three civilians, a senior police officer has said.

The victims included a married couple and their child, Sayed Ghafar, head of the Kabul police criminal department, told Reuters.

Two other family members were wounded in the strike, which hit a house in the western part of the capital.

Ghafar said the rockets were fired from Paghman, a mountain resort in the western outskirts of Kabul.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Taliban guerrillas have in the past occasionally hit the capital with rockets but they rarely cause casualties.
